學校簡介：
1971年由泰國劇場先驅藝術家Sodsai Pantoomkomol教授成立，是泰國第一所具有西方戲劇與劇場藝術學士學位的學院。她翻譯並搬演了許多現代歐洲與美國的劇作，包括《玻璃動物園》(1970)、《六個尋找作者的劇中人》(1972)、《海達蓋伯樂》(1975)、《美國之夢》(1977)、《四川好人》(1979)、《水中仙》(1982)。這方面的努力由Nopamat Veohong教授所製作的《伊底帕斯王》(1986)、《勇氣媽媽》(1987)以及《第十二夜》(1988)繼續傳承下去。
近年來，戲劇學院主要的舞台製作更趨於多元化，並納入「新傳統劇場」此一新研究方向──以當代的背景與實驗性風格，重新詮釋傳統作品，在劇場實踐中同時帶入傳統與現代的元素，Pornrat Damrhung教授所製作的《Sita: Sri Rama?》 (2005)就是其中一個例子。
目前，學院開設了表演、導演、劇本創作、設計、文學、理論與評論等課程，約有45名劇場藝術主修生，60名輔系生，以及400名文科生，再加上15名碩士班研究生(碩士班於2007年開設)修習這些課程。
去年七月，名為「Sodsai Pantoomkomol劇場藝術中心」的黑盒子劇場正式啟用。以《馬克白》作為首演作品，共有48位演員參與演出，其中演出女巫的13名演員中，包含了教授、校友以及專業演員。從今年一月至三月間，呈現了來自5個國家的11個作品，其中包括了提姆‧克勞奇的《橡樹》、平田織佐的「機器人─人類劇場」《再見》這個作品於日本以外的亞洲首演、以及法國編舞家傑宏‧貝爾與泰國舞者皮歇‧克朗淳共同創作的《皮歇‧克朗淳與我自己》（曾於新舞風演出，名為《泰國製造》）於世界的閉幕演出。
Founded in 1971 by modern Thai theatre pioneer and national artist Prof. Sodsai Pantoomkomol, the department is the country’s first institution to offer bachelor’s degree in western drama and theatre. Her translations and stagings of modern European and American dramas include The Glass Menagerie (1970), Six Characters in Search of an Author (1972), Hedda Gabler (1975), The American Dream (1977), The Good Person of Scechwan (1979), and Ondine (1982). These were succeeded by Prof. Nopamat Veohong’s productions of Oedipus Rex (1986), Mother Courage and Her Children (1987) and Twelfth Night (1988). In recent years, the department’s mainstage productions have diversified and include research in, among others, “theatre of new tradition”—reinterpretations of traditional drama in modern contexts and experimental styles drawn from both traditional and modern practices—for example, Prof. Pornrat Damrhung’s Sita: Sri Rama? (2005).
At present, classes in acting, directing, playwriting, design, literature, theory and criticism are being offered to approximately 45 dramatic arts major students, 60 minor students, and 400 liberal arts students, in addition to 15 graduate students in our master’s programme (since 2007).
In the past academic year, our new black box theatre namely “Sodsai Pantoomkomol Centre for Dramatic Arts” officially opened last June with Macbeth, with 48 cast members—there were 13 witches—comprising professors, alumni and professional actors. From January to March this year, we presented 11 productions from five countries including Tim Crouch’s An Oak Tree, Asia premiere (outside Japan) of Prof. Oriza Hirata’s android-human theatre Sayonara and world dernière of Pichet Klunchun and Myself.

簡介：
自1993年起任教於學院，教授表演、導演以及劇本寫作。曾獲得傅爾布萊特學者獎學金及亞洲文化協會研究獎金，並於紐約市立大學(布魯克林學院)取得戲劇導演碩士學位。他也是泰國最廣受好評的舞台演員及導演之一，曾領銜主演《蝴蝶君》、《比賓王子》及《馬克白》等作品；自己的製作則包括《春之醒》、《暹羅夢幻劇》、《Vazlav》、《雞尾酒》，以及近期的新作《暹羅任務》，是一齣根據安娜與暹羅國王朱拉隆功（拉瑪五世）相遇過程重新改編的泰語音樂劇。
Profile:
“Khru Fiat”—as he’s known among his students and colleagues—has been teaching acting, directing and playwriting for the department since 1993. A recipient of a Fulbright scholarship and an Asian Cultural Council fellowhip, Khru Fiat finished his MFA in Theatre Directing at the City University of New York (Brooklyn College). One of Thailand’s most acclaimed stage actors and directors, he performed the lead roles in M. Butterfly, Pippin and Macbeth among others; and his productions include The Spring Awakening, Siam Niramit, Vazlav, Cocktail and most recently Siam Mission, a new Thai musical based on a meeting between King Chulalongkorn and Anna Leonowens.
